Governor Biographical Information

Mr G Askew

Staff Governor

I have been Assistant Headteacher (KS2) at Wilberfoss C.E Primary School since May 2016, currently teaching in Year 6, and became a Staff Governor in the autumn term 2016.  I hold various leadership roles within school, including English Subject Leader, Pupil Premium Champion and Key Stage 2 Phase Leader.  I greatly enjoy the many rewards and challenges school life brings, both as a classroom teacher and senior leader.  Having previously taught at a Church of England school for 11 years, I greatly value the links between school and church and, in a similar vein, look forward to working with other key stakeholders within a strong and effective Governing Body.

Ms Leonie Beavan

Parent Governor

Humanities and Creative Arts Team

I became a parent governor in January 2014 and am proud to be connected to the school. I am a full time mum to three children who attend Wilberfoss School. I have lived in the village for 6 years with my fiancée and enjoy being a part of this community.

I believe that children should be exposed to a rich and varied curriculum to encourage them in all aspects of learning and I take a special interest in music and art. I obtained my BA (hons) in Educational Studies from the University of York.

Mrs L Hoyle

Chair or Governors

Safeguarding and e-Safety, LAC, Pupil Premium

I became the Chair of Governors at Wilberfoss Primary School in November 2016, having lived in the village for 20 years, and spent 37 years in education across the country, ending as the Executive Head of a 3 School Federation. During that time I have also been a Parent Governor, Staff Governor, Foundation Governor and Headteacher Governor. I hope and believe that experience in both areas will inform and support my role at Wilberfoss.

I have been a governor at Wilberfoss since spring term 2013 and have had close links with the school since moving to the area 6 years ago, both as a member of FOWS and also helping KS1 pupils with their reading skills. I strongly believe that a strong partnership and great communication between home and school create the best environment for children to reach their potential.
I live locally and have two children, one in in KS2 at Wilberfoss and one in secondary school.
I work as a Continuous Improvement Lead at Nestle in York and have a particular interest in supporting numeracy skills.

Mrs C Reed

Parent Governor

My daughter, Isabelle and son, Oliver have a very happy school life, nurtured and developed to be the best they can be for themselves and others. I want to support and play a pivotal role in ensuring school life is happy and memorable for all. I am a qualified management accountant with a Master’s degree in strategy. I love sports; running, cycling and swimming, frequently signing my family up to challenges they wish I hadn’t! I love reading to relax and run a local book club. I have strong financial and communication skills, a measured approach and sunny disposition.

Revd Aysha St Giles

Foundation Governor

 Religious Education and Collective Worship

I have been in Wilberfoss for over 10 years now and it has been a privilege and a joy to serve this community and be involved with this lovely village school.

Mrs C Weld

Co-opted Governor

Maths, Science and Technology Team

I work as a Teaching Assistant at the School, as well as working as a Biology Lecturer at York College. Previously, I have taught Science for almost twenty years in several different secondary schools mainly in the South East. I have also held various management positions within schools.
I currently live locally and both of my children attended Wilberfoss before moving onto secondary school.

Mrs V White

Foundation Governor

Religious Education and Collective Worship

I joined as a Foundation Governor at Wilberfoss in the autumn term 2016. I am a parent of a child in the Foundation Stage and a member of FOWS. I have lived in the village for over ten years, with a short spell living in York. My main job is as a Consultant for Building Control which is very varied. In this line of work I can be involved with expansion and growth as well as trying to maintain character and identity, and I hope the skills I bring from outside of education will be a positive to the school.
