Sports Competitions 2016-17

This page is to celebrate the success of the school in sporting competition throughout the year. We really value good sportsmanship at our school and all the children who have participate our school teams demonstrate this. We will add reports and photos of events and competitions as the year goes on. 

Swimming Gala 24th February 2017

This year the Wolds Swimming Gala was held at Beverley Leisure Centre. We sent a team of 12 children for Year 5 and 6 to compete.  This year had the largest attendance the organisers can recall with 13 schools taking part in the large and small school competion. The competition was very fierce, competing against five other large schools from the area. The children performed fantastically well and we have some very talented swimmers at our school. The event had a combination of individual events and team relay events. Have a look at our fantastic times:

    • Giuseppe, Josh, Savannah and Orla 1m 57.53s (4th)
  • Event 12 - 2 length Freestyle Relay FINAL -
    • Savannah, Ethan, Charlie and Isabelle 4m 06.58s (5th)

 

We were very impressed that the children demonstrated good sportsmanship and tried their best, despite being extremely tired by the end of it. We were incredibly proud of achieving such quick times.

Sports Hall Athletics 22nd November 2016

This year the Wolds round of Sports Hall Athletics was held at The Market Weighton School. We sent a team of 12 children for Year 5 and 6 to train and retain our trophy. The competition was very fierce, competing against five other large schools from the area with a hope of reaching the next round. The children performed fantastically over events which included: 

  • 1 + 1 relay
  • 6 lap parlauf
  • Over and Under relay
  • Obstacle relay
  • Speed bounce
  • Soft javelin
  • Chest push
  • Standing long jump
  • Standing triple jump
  • Vertical jump

 

We were very impressed that the children demonstrated good sportsmanship and tried their best. We were incredibly proud to have come 2nd place.

Wolds Cross Country 28th September 2016

This year the Wolds round of the Cross Country Championship was held at Woldgate College. We sent teams to enter the Year 3/4 girls, Year 3/4 boys, Year 5/6 girls and Year 5/6 boys races. The Year 3/4 course was over a distance of 1km and the Year 5/6 course covered a distance of 1.4km. The team showed grit, determination and perseverance in their races and put in some amazing performances. We are all very proud of you. 

 

Congratulations to Georgia (Year 6), who has automatically qualified for the next round representing the Wolds in the East Riding Cross Country Championship.
