Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year! In  Year 3, we have looked at how Chinese New Year is celebrated. We have learnt about the customs by having a Chinese New Year party. We ate food, made money envelopes (filled with chocolate coins) and chinese dragons. We had lots of fun!

Outdoor Learning - Pokemon Hunting

We went outside to hunt for pokemon this week. We had to calculate addition and subtraction problems in our heads and match the answers to pokemon. We did a really good job, worked well together, helped each other and caught lots of them. Everyone was trying to catch Pikachu!

Outdoor Learning - Making Bird Feeders

We can use place value counters to divide

School Council Elections.

We held election in our classroom, to decide who would represent out class on the school council. Everyone that wanted to put their name forward, gave a speech telling the rest of the class why they would be a good representative. Everyone did a fantastic job and spoke really clearly. We then voted in secret and put our votes into a ballot bow ready to be counted.

We spent some time talking about out British Values and focused on democracy.

Congratulations to Billy and Evie who now represent our class on the school council.

Measuring volume (15.11.16)

In our maths lesson today, we estimated and then measured volumes using different equipment. We were thinking about capacity as well and decided to use the measuring equipment with the largest capacity first.

Making ink - 21.09.16

We went out with Mrs Linfoot to make ink. We used elder berries and wore aprons to protect our clothing.

We had to remove the berries, mash them and then boil them with white wine vinegar.

Roald Dahl Day - Tuesday 13th September 2016

We had great fun dressing up and celebrating Roald Dahl Day! We had a parade with the rest of the school to show our costumes and books.

In maths, we used smarties to work with data. We couldn't believe that some boxes had more smarties than others!

Ancient Greeks vs. Ancient Egyptians

We started our new topic by answering the question 'Who were the Ancient Egyptians?' We looked at artifacts to try and uncover some information.

Welcome back Year 3!

We have had a fantastic first week back and have all been very busy. We are all very excited for our 'Ancient Greeks vs. Ancient Egyptians' and produced some fantastic homework over the school holidays. Lots of children also completed the National Trust 'Summer Checklist'

Well done everyone for a great start to this school year!
