Some kind words about our school

This page is a way of sharing some of the things that people say, email or feedback to us about our school.

Open Morning

Amazing to see all of the beautiful and inspiring displays. Seems like a very happy and calm space to learn in.

It was lovely to have the opportunity to see the children in their learning environment and watching the phonics session was great!

Grandparent

Fantastic teachers, staff, and a really lovely feeling about the school. Children are thriving and enjoy school which is a real privilege.

Lovely to see such a positive, friendly and welcoming attitude from pupils and staff alike.

Grandparent

It was amazing to see how much they are learning, and everyone was so friendly - it's a beautiful school, with great values and approaches. We couldn't ask for anymore.

My kids seem happy and are coming along in their learning. In EYFS they seem to do really well at knowing the children and engaging with them.

[My child] is lucky to have been taught by so many wonderful, dedicated teachers during her time at Wilberfoss, teachers who take an interest in the child as an individual as well as their numeracy or literacy results, which I understand are also important.

I wanted to share my gratitude with you and hope that she understands how much we appreciate teachers going the extra mile for our kids.'

Wilberfoss is a very nurturing school that clearly encourages development of all different interests and champions difference and not all people being the same.

The ELSA's are incredible, and my child has come on amazingly well since starting having support. The mental health support and provision in the school is second to none and in this day and age it is crucial to support children so strongly in this area.

The school's results are really impressive, but I think it is a real positive that Wilberfoss School really champions extra-curricular development too.

I want to express my thanks to all the wonderful members of staff who go above and beyond, listen to parents' views and implement positive measures as a result. I would be grateful if you could pass on my thanks and share with the deputy/assistant heads as appropriate so that the efforts of the aforementioned teaching staff team members does not go unrecognised.

We love the whole ethos surrounding the school, Believe, grow, achieve. Every child is treated very individually and the staff know their children very well. We have a very shy 10 year old that has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years. Mrs King has a lot to do with that. She really cares and we’ve been very lucky. We feel she is instrumental in *  whole development even giving her the confidence to take part in wider school activities which we thought would never happen! She has gone from strength to strength and we are very grateful for all the school have done. I only wish all of my children could come to Wilberfoss School!

We have been very pleased and impressed with the school since starting in Sept 2020, particularly given all of the challenges presented by Covid. Miss Petty and Miss Pemberton do an outstanding job in EYFS (both in terms of learning and nurturing) and our child is feels very happy and secure there. I often sing the praises of our school! It is a lovely family environment…We also wanted to reiterate our thanks for the strong leadership of the school during the pandemic - I think that you have done a superb job navigating such a challenging time and the ongoing issues that Covid throws at you, balancing safety of all with trying to ensure that things are as normal as possible for the children. We have particularly appreciated the massive efforts put in to ensure that children can still have - and parents can still see - collective events like the Nativity plays (both online last year and hopefully in person this year) and the Sports Day. Huge efforts must go into this, and it doesn't go unnoticed - we realise that not all schools have made the effort to find alternative solutions (and ones that have worked very well). Communication has also been excellent - clear messages delivered in a timely way. The school has often felt like a steady ship in stormy seas in the last 18 months when everything else in life has felt so uncertain, which is no mean feat.

We are encouraged by recent changes made by the leadership team resulting in a greater degree of transparency, open communication involving parents and welcoming feedback regarding the school’s policies and processes etc. The open mornings have been a great success and we are loving the range of activities on offer meaning there is something for everyone! The team of staff are super friendly, hardworking, supportive and approachable. It is evident they seek the best for their students and support them to help them achieve and to be happy at school. As a mother to a child with SEN, I’m so grateful for the support we have received where teachers are fighting for my child to reach their potential. At the other end of the scale my daughter who has always excelled has had teachers who have adapted work to challenge her and to bring her on, whilst also recognising her mental well-being is of equal importance. Both my children love coming to school and that speaks volumes. Well done and thank you!

I am really impressed so far. The EYFS team are absolutely amazing. Mr Henderson is a fantastic asset to the school and I am in awe of his philosophy to teaching and the way he has brought it to life in the school. The achievement assembly we attended when my daughter was given an Always Child award was fantastic and so rewarding to witness. Thank you.

I have always found the school to be a warm, welcoming place with a true family feel about it. The staff are very approachable and know our child inside out. He loves to come to school and feels happy and safe. The selection of extra-curricular clubs is vast and our child particularly enjoys getting involved with any sporting events. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all staff members who have played an important part in our child’s education so far.
