Believe, Grow, Achieve

Welcome - Believe, Grow, Achieve

On behalf of the school community, I would like to welcome you to our school. This website is designed to give as much information as possible about what we, at Wilberfoss Church of England Primary School, have to offer you and your child.

Our school is at the heart of our community. We take children from pre-school age, the year before they start school officially, and aim to nurture them throughout their time here. The school enjoys, and benefits from, an extremely close relationship with our local Church, St. John the Baptist; our village nursery and childminders and the Diocese of York. This relationship gives the school a uniquely distinctive character and provides excellent support.

We create a safe and secure environment where all can believe, dare to try new things and persevere when challenges arise.

We strive to ensure that pupils at Wilberfoss School are happy and confident individuals who demonstrate the Christian Values during their time in school and within the community - indeed one of our overarching aims is to 'Grow good people who can make a difference in school, the wider community and the world'.

We use these values to support our teaching of the fundamental British Values and extend these to encompass equality, justice, responsibility, love and respect. We create a safe and secure environment where all can believe, dare to try new things and persevere when challenges arise.

We are fortunate to have a positive and fulfilling partnership with children, parents, teachers and all others working within and alongside the school. When we recently renewed our school vision and values, our community strongly felt we should teach our children to be thankful and to offer support to local, national and global charities and this is something we strive to achieve.

We are a part of The Education Alliance MAT and we share a common purpose:

Our purpose:

We are here to make great schools and happier, stronger communities so that people have better lives.

How we do this:

The way we do this is by:

  • Always doing what is right
  • Trusting in each other and standing shoulder to shoulder
  • Doing what we know makes the difference

Doing what is right means always acting with integrity, in the interests of others, and being honest, open and transparent.

Welcome from our Chair of Governors - Lynda Hoyle

On behalf of the governors of Wilberfoss Primary, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to our school.

As a governing body, our purpose is to ensure that a high quality of education is being provided, in a safe and nurturing environment. We take responsibility for the strategic development of the school by monitoring progress and challenging the leadership team to maintain excellent conduct, ethos and performance.

It is a privilege to be Chair of Governors and to work with a devoted team to share expertise and help and guide our school.

The Governors work very closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff, supporting them in their commitment to providing the pupils with the best possible education, well being, key skills, confidence and self-esteem to further their development.

Wilberfoss Primary School is a wonderful place, and all of us who serve the school as Governors are immensely proud of the fantastic achievements of those attending and working at the school. We would like to thank parents for their support and partnership.

It is a privilege to be Chair of Governors and to work with a devoted team to share expertise and help and guide our school. If you need to get in touch with me this can be done by emailing the school office.

Mrs Lynda Hoyle

Chair of Governors

Welcome from our Church community - Rev. Simon Pritchard

A very warm welcome to Wilberfoss Church of England Primary School. Our
Christian faith is placed firmly at the heart of the school and is something you will
be aware of as soon as you step into the building.

How we treat each other withrespect, love and care are values taken seriously by pupils, teachers andgovernors irrespective of our faith background or none. You will hear this in the phrase, ‘The Wilberfoss Way’ and in the school’s focus on the core Christian
values of perseverance, friendship and thankfulness. Wilberfoss School has strong, active links with St John’s Church in the village and I very much look forward to taking Wednesday’s assembly in school. The children visit church regularly for services marking those important events in the school and church year, as well as for their RE work.

It is a privilege for me to be part of the Wilberfoss school community where the staff and governors want the very best for all the children, and where we all learn, care and grow together.

With every blessing,

Reverend Simon Pritchard
